When considering a change in process it is recommended that an Equality Impact Assessment (EIA) is completed.
Equality Impact Assessments are the mechanisms for considering the equality effect on different groups protected from discrimination under the Equality Act. This is how the due regard ismet from the Public Sector Equality Duty (Equality Act 2010).
It’s a documented, evidence-based decision tool to consider the impacts of your activity/project/decision may have on equality groups.
Benefits are:
- Supports inclusive decision making and design.
- Supports the case for changes to design and delivery of services or workforce.
- Identifies any inequalities before action takes place so that plans can be put in place.
